Principal

As principal and founder of Montoya and Associates, Shawn Montoya has over 35 years of experience in the Bay Area providing comprehensive architectural design and construction management services on a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects. His portfolio includes over 500 successful projects throughout the Bay Area where his personal attention to detail and commitment to each project has earned him the respect of his clients and colleagues.

Shawn's comprehensive understanding of building codes and permitting procedures has enabled him to develop excellent working relationships with representatives of many local jurisdictions, also contributing to his history of successful projects.

Prior to starting Montoya and Associates in 1994, Shawn worked for a well-known Marin County architectural firm. Shawn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon and a Master of Science degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is a licensed architect in the state of California and Hawaii.  Shawn has served as a member of the Sonoma County Planning Commission, Sonoma County Landmarks Commission, and the City of Petaluma Historic SPAR.
